NDUGA - Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 503/Mayangkara Kostrad, part of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA in Papua, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Nduga Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Sunday, 18 August 2024, the 503 Task Forces, especially the Batas Batu Post led by First Lieutenant Galih Widiharyo Nugroho, conducted security in Mumugu Village, Krepkuri District. During their routine, the Post helped the Mumugu residents to prepare the series activities to commemorate the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
Commander of the 503 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Gurbasa Samosir, had emphasized his Soldiers about the importance of the Task Forces’ attention to the community's basic needs around the Post. Due to this emphasis, 1LT Galih has conducted Social Communication (Komsos) with Community Figures of the Village since the beginning of August, especially regarding the plan to commemorate Independence Day. The results of the Komsos, it was agreed that the series of commemorations would be applied in various activities, including game competitions among the community, ceremony and other community activities.

Commencing the activity, on Sunday (18/8), after the Sunday Service in Church, the Batas Batu Soldiers helped the community who were doing community work on the Mumugu field. Responding the Soldiers’ support, the community welcomed it with enthusiasm. After the activity done, 1LT Galih and the Head of Mumugu Village, Mr. Daniel Menjeh, took turns expressing their gratitude for the enthusiasm of the community and the Soldiers. Mr. Daniel said, "Thank you, Commander 503. We are delighted all Soldiers helped the community to prepare the commemorations. God bless".
Upon receiving the program report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, expressed his pride, saying, "The initiative of the 503 Task Forces helped the community of Mumugu Village to prepare the series activities to commemorate the 79th Independence Day is a shining example of the implementation of the results of the inclusive social communication with all parties to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This positive response from the military leadership not only reassures the event's success but also underscores its significant impact on the community.
