HABEMA’s ROSITA Program Empowers Yoparu Village Farmers and Strengthens Local Economy

INTAN JAYA - Soldiers from the 509 Raider Infantry Battalion (509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad), under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, have taken innovative steps to support the economy of remote communities in Papua. On Tuesday, 22 October 2024, as part of their patrol duties, the Holomama Post, led by First Lieutenant Wanianto, launched the ROSITA program (Buy Up Farming Products) in Yoparu Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province.

The initiative provided an opportunity for local residents to sell their agricultural products directly to HABEMA soldiers, bringing immediate financial relief and fostering stronger bonds between the military and the community.

Following the directive from Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, Commander of the 509 Task Forces, the soldiers went beyond their security responsibilities by actively supporting the livelihoods of local farmers. The ROSITA program demonstrates the military's commitment to prioritizing community well-being as a key part of their mission in Papua.

Using personal funds, the soldiers purchased a variety of farm products from Yoparu residents, incorporating them into their daily meals. This gesture of personal sacrifice and care for the community left a deep impression on the villagers.

"Thank you, Commander 509. God bless, " said Mrs. Ria Japugau, one of the farmers, beaming with joy after making sales that morning. The soldiers’ initiative not only provided financial benefit but also reinforced a sense of trust and appreciation between the military and the local community.

The success of the ROSITA initiative earned praise from Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, Commanding General of HABEMA. He remarked:

"The 509 Task Forces' effort to buy up farming products from Yoparu Village is a brilliant example of TNI's dedication to supporting local economies and driving the development of the Papua region."

This recognition from HABEMA leadership highlights the broader impact of the program, showing how military operations in Papua are designed to empower communities, build trust, and foster sustainable development. The ROSITA initiative exemplifies the spirit of collaboration between TNI and local residents, offering not just economic support but also hope for a better future.
