Krepkuri Nduga, MediaHabema - The 503/Mayangkara Task Force, part of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Operational Command HABEMA, has won the hearts of residents in Sagapusatu Village by providing free medical treatment for elephantiasis (filariasis). Operating along the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea border in Nduga Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province, the Task Force partnered with the Krepkuri Puskesmas (Community Hospital) to address a serious health issue threatening the local population.
During early October 2024, Captain Galih Widiharyo, Commander of the Batas Batu Post, met with the head of Krepkuri Puskesmas to discuss health concerns affecting local residents. The spread of elephantiasis emerged as a major challenge, prompting both parties to organize a free medical treatment campaign to support the community.
On October 29, 2024, TNI soldiers and health workers gathered in Sagapusatu Village to begin the outreach program. Mothers arrived in droves, bringing their children for treatment, grateful for the opportunity to receive care without cost.
“Thank you, Commander 503. Our children have been treated for free. God bless you, ” said Rut Kogoya, one of the local mothers, expressing her appreciation after the event.

The success of the initiative was welcomed by Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, the Commanding General of HABEMA, who praised the 503 Task Force’s humanitarian efforts. “This operation reflects TNI’s dedication to supporting local communities by addressing health challenges and promoting development in Papua, ” he stated.
This initiative is a powerful example of how security forces can build trust and foster hope through acts of kindness. Such efforts not only promote peace and development but also strengthen the bonds between TNI and the communities they serve.
